About PrepCompass

PrepCompass helps households turn preparedness information into lasting capability.

Households already have access to plans, kits, training, and checklists — what has often been missing is a practical way to connect those investments, see what's missing, and know what to work on next, one manageable action at a time. PrepCompass was built to close that gap, with readiness measured consistently so households — and, in aggregate and with privacy protected, the communities around them — can see improvement over time.

For the methodology itself, see Our Approach.

Where PrepCompass is headed

One methodology, stated plainly: what exists today, and what is still a future direction.

Today

The PrepCompass web application

Today, households use the PrepCompass web application, including an AI chat feature powered by ChatGPT that provides conversational help inside the app.

Not an autonomous agent. That chat feature does not act on a household's behalf.

Future direction

Personal AI assistant integrations

Separately, we are exploring integrations with personal AI assistants that could use the same methodology more conversationally.

None integrated today. This is a direction we are exploring — not a current feature.

Who we're building with

We believe this framework becomes more valuable through collaboration with preparedness professionals, researchers, emergency management organizations, and other institutions. Our longer-term goal is a transparent, consistent methodology that can be reviewed and refined collaboratively.

An invitation, not an existing body. That governance does not exist yet as a formal body — this is an invitation to practitioners and institutions interested in that conversation, not a claim that it already happens. Contact us through the contact page if that's you.

How our guidance is developed

PrepCompass guidance is built from established emergency management and business continuity practice, including capability assessment, planning, training, and exercise methods, and is reviewed and updated as the methodology evolves.

Planning guidance, not emergency instructions. PrepCompass is planning guidance for households — it is not a substitute for official instructions from local authorities during an emergency.
